Prescription drug take-back day: October 24

On Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office will be collecting expired and/or no-longer-needed prescription drugs as part of the national twice-a-year event to get prescription drugs out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them.

This no-questions-asked-event takes place at the sheriff’s office located at 195 Judicial Place in Heathsville.

There are restrictions on what can and cannot be dropped off:

  • What you CAN drop off: Pills, tablets, etc. + vape pens/other e-cigarette devices from individual consumers ONLY after the batteries are removed

  • What you CANNOT drop off: sharps and liquids

💡 Did you know that the sheriff's office collects prescription drugs 24/7? THEY DO! They have a safe disposal bin in the lobby of the office. No questions asked. So if you miss this event, you can drop your drugs off when it's convenient.
